Where have I been? What have I been doing?

Where has summer gone? I say this every year but this year is different. This summer has been 100% spent organizing, building and planning. In other words, this summer has been boring and have to admit, partly, kicking & screaming, haha. For 7 years, literally 7 days a week, I've had all I could do to keep SKILLSWITCH RC afloat. Not due to sales in the way you would think. Due to sales being what they were for one person. You go from, this is fun, this is challenging to..... I don't even want to wake up, this is BS, this is not fun anymore..... why am I even doing this. The thought that a 40 hour week at McDonalds would be less stress and more money ( SERIOUSLY! ) actually crossed my mind, haha. I even went on a few job interviews ( not McDonalds ).

I've had MANY different emotions through this journey. The stress everyday finally caught up to me, I'd say in May. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining or explaining. I'm sharing my journey through these years. For me, this journey started around 1993 with an idea. I never had the courage to pursue until 2019. Even then, I wasn't fully confident or even knew where it would go. But I've had ideas floating in my head for so long, I knew the only way to release them were to give it a go. So I did. NOTHING went as planned, haha. It took it's own course and I was along for the ride. It taught me a LOT! But it always seemed to reach the next day with no time to apply the things I learned. I found myself constantly saying to myself, " I've got to put that on the list.".

It wasn't until having surgery and being forced down that my mind was able to slow down. Being forced a break was all it took. I was 100% every waking hour and I'm sure in my dreams was mind racing about SKILLSWITCH RC. It had become a part of me and had taken over. I realized, I wasn't me anymore, I was a robot and my mind was 100% in the computer. Being forced down, I started to see again. My "Tunnel Vision" started to break. I started to feel human again. That is when I realized I could no longer operate the way I was. That chapter was done. So what do I do? How do I continue? Do I end it here? I was lost, literally. I felt like I hit a brick wall. It felt like a part of me was dying. What I realized was, a brand new me was developing.

I can see now that I had been covering up a major depression stage with work. I just buried myself in work to block out things that were bothering me. For me to write this to the public is a MAJOR step for me but I feel it's important at this stage. I'm a person that doesn't share many details about myself. Just plug through the day and bury any feelings deep inside with hopes they will fade away. I now see, they don't, haha. I've held the weight of the world on my shoulders for a very long time. I didn't make this choice to change....my body did. It was just shutting down. My body had enough of 24/7 grind, grind, grind. The hardest part of it all was one..... facing it all. Then, cleaning it all up and starting over. Being 52 and looking at your life and saying.... " I want a do-over. " is a daunting task. Making a list of all the things I wanted to change was a very overwhelming and push depression further, was a feeling of, this is never going to happen, haha. It feels like you are never going to get through it.

So here we are. Summer is winding down and winter is on the horizon. My list is still a mile long and I should be a lot more prepared for the "busy season" but I now know I can't control that. I now focus on what I CAN control today. I have spent this summer working harder than I have in many years. Work on things that have little appearance but will down the road. I have learned better to set myself up for tomorrow than just making it through the day.

So what does all of this mean for SKILLSWITCH RC? It's evolving again. I created a business from suggestions of other people. I never had the confidence to put myself out there. I've never "showcased" myself. I always felt better being the person in the background. I'm ready for the next stage of "showcasing" myself. I'm ready to "showcase" the stuff I haven't released. I based this business off what other people like. It was a "safe bet". I'm ready to take the steps to get out of my comfort zone. I'm ready to take some risks and show people more of myself. I'm ready to expose the person behind SKILLSWITCH RC. I've attempted but then get scared and hide again. I've spent my life with the "What will people think?" persona. I've spent my life worried about appeasing other people that I buried my own thoughts. I honestly believe I'm ready to step into the sunshine.

I've never been a person to take photos of my adventures, at least of myself. I've never had the idea of taking pictures of things I've created, bought or to me, it was "showing off". Everything I've done was something I enjoyed, why do I need to show other people? It just never was anything I took priority in. Social media made my mind explode, haha. I just could never understand why people posted some of the things I saw. The person I am, I would try to understand it. I was a person that believed there was an answer for everything and would hunt down for that answer.

Today, August 24th. I have not conformed into the perfect person. I've probably worked through about 25% of my list of changes. I'm still the same person but I have been able to work through some peace and that has allowed me to create a new path and something to work towards. That alone has allowed me to have a new outlook and something to look forward to. Something that used to scare the hell out of me. I'm now allowing SKILLSWITCH RC to be it's own identity and not something for me to hide behind and live through that identity. I now, still working through, living my personal life and separating my business. My BIGGEST hurdle. I still catch myself pushing but quickly shift.

For those who made it this far, I know, I tend to ramble, it's a work in progress. What does all this mean? SKILLSWITCH RC will be what it is. A DIY Body Shop. I've worked hard to get the prices down. All these years as everyone's prices went up, mine went down. I never went into this thinking I'd make money. I just wanted to cover expenses while doing it. SMFRC GARAGE will be me as a person. This is where the "rebuilt" me will shine! I have been working behind the scenes to create a whole new experience for myself and for the customer. I'm not going to indulge quite yet, still hush, hush. I can say, the new releases will bring EVERYTHING to a whole new level, state of mind and most important, creativity!

I'll end this here for now. I just wanted to let everyone I'm still alive and kicking. I look forward to this new season arriving for a whole new purpose. I also look forward to people getting to know me as a person, not just a robot, haha! Again and always, thank you to all who have supported me, it means more than I have shown......
