OCTOBER 2026 at Skillswitch RC

Foliage is just about over here in Vermont. I have been finishing up the last few projects for the summer. That means, it's time to kick things up a notch and get back to creating.

This summer I have been challenging myself with learning new computer skills for the websites. Since the beginning, my websites have lacked any excitement. I just could not figure out how to get the "look" from my head to the computer. It was time, it was weighing me down something wicked. I spent months learning different applications.

What will be different?

I am currently finishing up SMFRC GARAGE website. This was the last domain I had to transfer to be with Skillswitch and The RC Car Show. This will make managing much much easier. All emails have been configured together. I didn't have things configured prior and confused me in the past. Very helpful.

SMFRC GARAGE will be my "office/shop". I think it's time everyone meets the man behind the products. This is where I was struggling. Social media allows this to an extent but my problem was, "How can I show what I want to show under one roof?". I struggled daily on getting my content/message out, with so many places to manage. "How can I make this easier without taking time away from, well, working?". I was finally able to learn how to. So SMFRC GARAGE will be a fully INTERACTIVE website. Visitors and members will be able to communicate throughout the website. I am a little behind schedule but have about 75% written and am eagerly plugging away at it. You have no idea how excited I am about this! The RC Car Show will be the same but I will do another segment about that.

What will SMFRC GARAGE site be?

About 6 years ago, after Skillswitch RC was off and running, I realized some things that would have been handy. So for CRAWLERS, there are literally a million options. I learned quick that everyone has a different "destination" with the look of their RC. Each "destination" requires a different "style" of the body.

For example:

Back in 2020 I started "Pinching & Bobbing" smaller scale bodies. They weren't popular. This is where I started to realize that customers were new to the hobby and didn't understand the purpose. These are MY experiences with my customer base. So I stopped putting so much attention to those.

I was getting a lot of requests for a stock looking body so customers could re-create their 1:1 rig. That was 95% of my business in the first 5 years I'd say. The problem with this is performance. It might look just like your real truck but your not winning a comp on the rocks.

I then went through times of people complaining the body didn't work with flex or the body doesn't work with my 68mm tires. I found myself chasing trying to cure all of these problems, haha, I really did. I almost went out of my mind.

I realized that the customer base has all different ideas that one body cannot give all the solutions. So I made different versions of the bodies. I've never been able to release everything in the manner I intended. I am doing so now.

Having EVERYTHING under one roof will make a WORLDS of difference. If your an experience hobbyist and like to do all the work, then Skillswitch RC is for you. If your new or want a completed body, then SMFRC GARAGE is where you want to go. I am putting the correct focus to the correct customer in a much more organized manner.

What can we expect?

For years I have been talking about ideas I've had that I would like to do. I have things I have made that I have never shown. My focus will be on these things. This blog picture is of a resin color I came up with for a body base color. When the paint gets scratched up, it will reveal a rust color.

I would like to dive into my BYM ( Back Yard Mechanic ) bodies. Bodies that have dents and damage integrated in the 3d design.

I have been working on a single project for years now that is in the last prototype stages and would like to release. HINT: a conversion kit.

I would like to release my LIGHTING KITS and ESC's. I will also be revealing episodes of my personal RC collection and turning some into "Creations" of ALL scales.

You can expect a whole new vision than I have represented. I will be taking each product I make and show live examples of what my intention was. Videos of each performance. Pictures and video of what each product "Could be". It's time I give an "in depth" look.

My whole purpose is to get more interactive with visitors. Have everything laid out on the site and have the ability that if you have a question about a picture or video, you can ask that question right then and there. It's been a lot of work and the last stretch to go but I believe will put things to the next level, keep everything very manageable and allow for everyone to have an awesome experience.
